I think any purpose that gets assigned from any particular perspective is arbitrary. The universe appears neutral and has no goals. I have no problem accepting that. But I can see why a lot of people can't handle this, and I think that's one of the reasons religion is so popular. It gives a quick-answer meaning to life, so you don't have to worry about it any more.

All you can do is make the best of what you've got. I know I have feelings, and some are nicer than others. I assume other people do too. So the only purpose I can see worthwhile is to minimize harm and to help where possible. But the universe couldn't care less what I think my purpose is.

It speaks to the arrogance of humans that they think they are the centre of god's focus, whereas they are actually just some crud growing on a speck of dust.

And then what? Quite right. Seems the mission it was once upon is no more. :-)

Fact is there is no cosmic order or purpose to be followed. Instead, our life is our own to the extent of our ability.

Why has no one has mentioned love yet?

It's an emotion, right?

And again, it's not an exclusive human domain. Have you ever experienced the love of a dog? Have you ever observed the curious boundings between two individuals of different species?

The meaning of your life is a personal question. I give myself meaning: maximize the things I enjoy, while minimizing the things I don't. No better meaning than that.
