This needs some clarification.

Well, read the old book.

You hardly can turn a page without stumbling upon an atrocity that Yahweh ordered. Kill that people or this people, kill 'em all down to the last child and infant and even the cattle, rip pregnant women's bellies open. Keep the girls, who have never known a man for yourself.

The examples are countless.

So you believe that a nation that practices child sacrifice for instance, by burning them alive, has a right to exist?

1. 'Cause I said so.

2. 'Cause I said it isn't.

Which is all it really boils down to in the end.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

I god, say these people can have this land, so I help them kill every man woman and child on the land and impale the king on a stake for the day. Rinse, repeat. Josiah in a nut shell. Doesn't get any better in Judges.

People have become bad in some unspecified way. I will kill them all including children except one good family. Oh and I think I'll get all the animals except for a pair of each just for good measure. Genesis

People are building a great big tower and that endangers our authority. Lets make them unable to understand each other, destroy the tower, and scatter the people. Genesis

Thou shalt either kill rape victims or marry them to the rapist. Deuteronomy.

Sacrificing sons to other gods is bad. But you should be willing to sacrifice them to me, because I am your god. (Genesis) And I will reward you militarily for promising to sacrifice the first member of your household to greet you when you return in triumph. Bummer it's your daughter and only child. That's the way the cookie crumbles. (Judges).

Divorce your foreign wives: Judges, various prophets, Kings.

Slavery is an old and venerable institution. Here are the rules. . Deuteronomy.

Eating pork, shell fish, cheese burgers, and camels is a horrible sin. Deuteronomy.

Warrior kings and judges are my favorite kind. Thus says the lord. Judges, Kings, Chronicles, various prophets.

Edam did not help Israel and they the descendants of Jacob's twin brother Esau and everything. They shall be cursed forever.

A ruler won't let some slaves go, so I shall kill everyone in the country's first son and the first born males of their livestock just to be sure the point is made. Exodus.

Will those do? Or do we have to go through the Bible line by line.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

Here's a little trick: describe god's solution to any given problem, but replace his name with some neutral third party. Say, "The United States' solution to this problem was to perform genocide on the child sacrificers." Ask yourself if that was a moral act, and if the answer is no for the USA, then it is also no for god.

So you believe that nations who sacrifice their children should be punished by killing all their kids? Odd point of view.

Ok, so pick the one you think is the worst and I'll address that one in depth, a short answer will not do any of those justice.

Oddly enough, I explained this in another thread.

Hosea 13:16: The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.”

Can't wait for your explanation. Especially about the dashed little ones and the belly ripping.

Ahh, but children can't "die" they just return to God. which is why Jesus refereed to a dead Girl one tame as "asleep" to which the Bible says the "people laughed him to scorn" because they didn't know what he meant.
