Painting used to be my hobby, but now it's a job. The painting part is still just as fun as it ever was. The marketing part is job, job, job.

Reading, gardening, hiking, quilting, travel, photography, cooking, and baking are my hobbies, though the gardening, cooking, and baking are necessities, just not on the scale that I do them.

Who has work that they would do as a hobby- but get paid to do it?

I honestly cannot think of a single thing I enjoy doing that I would continue to enjoy if I had to do them 40+ hours/week to put food on the table and a roof over my head.

The wisest thing my high school counselor ever told me:
"Think of all the things you love to do. Keep those as hobbies. Find something you can stomach doing all the time to make a career of. Save the stuff you love for the little time you have to really enjoy it."

My hobbies are CrossFit, working with dogs, and carpentry.

If I could be a carpenter full time, working out of my own shop, and making enough to pay my bills and support my family, I'd be on that in an instant.

I'm a lazy shit, my hobby is watching things grow, other people -are even lazier- so they pay me to watch things grow...I know, I know, surprises the hell out of me too....

I wish I built wooden boats for a living - but I don't know how (beyond a scow) and I doubt that there's enough money it it to pay the bills. Or, even better, cob homes. I have a very short bucket list, obviously. Nail boards together, pile dirt.

I also built RC model ships - the sort that you research to make it a detailed and accurate replica of a historically interesting real ship, not the sort you buy at stores and race on ponds.
