To me they are more than that. As a 15yo when I first read the novel and saw the movie, the whole faux chaos theory stuff, the (if only shallow) philosophical tension between the characters, the atmospheric component of the park breaking down while being soaked by a thunderstorm, the prelude in the desert, the williams soundtrack, all these things were at least as important as the eye candy. Without them, it would be forgettable to me.

Hope they correct some of the misconceptions previous Jurrasic park movies generated:

1. Velociraptors were not the terrifying size pf bears, they were of the much less intimiating size of dogs.

2. Experiments show velociraptor's great foot claw was not effective as a slashing weapon. It was most likely used as retractable cleats for running or climbing.

3. Spinosuars were larger than T-rex, but it had a fragile jaw and a weak bite compared to T-rex. It seems unlikely spinosaurs could break T-rex's neck with a bite. T-rex, on the other hand, did have a very sturdy jaw and the most bone crushing bite of any known dinosaur

4. Avimimus was likely feather covered, velociraptor has lt least some feathers.

They're not gonna fix any if that. I suppose there simply isnt going to be a spinosaur, but of course the mosasaur in the trailer is also quite oversized.

I never understood why they needed to call these things velociraptors. The size and featherlessness you might motivate by the fact that they did tamper with the dna quiye a bit by splicing it with other recent animals.

That was my first impression, too. Apparently it's ron howard"s daughter, but I'm cautiously optimistic as she seems to have done theatre stuff and directing

I haven't seen Chris Pratt in anything yet, but critics seem to be raving about him being the next big action star.
I'll reserve judgement till after I watch him.

But he's definitely no Sam Neill.
