Suicide
#21
RE: Suicide
He didn't give his life. He supposedly respawned three days later.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

But, He went through Hell to do it.

According to the story, perhaps. We're supposed to be impressed by that?

Just wondering, if god knows everything and took human form intending to be crucified, is not that tantamount to suicide?

Is a mother rushing out into traffic to save a child considered suicide?
What about a soldier jumping on a grenade to save his squad?
What about a firefighter running into the second tower on 9/11 after the first one collapsed?

Like wise Christ died to save us from death/eternal.

The difference is those people doing those actions are mortals.

The deity, who is supposedly all knowing and all powerful, who could create the universe had to sacrifice itself to itself to change its own rules.

If the deity is, indeed, all powerful, it wouldn't need a blood sacrifice.

RE: Suicide
The death on the cross was a physical representation of what God went through to offer us forgiveness, so we had some idea of the cost.

If the child doesn't ask his mother to save him, is it okay if the mother makes the deliberate decision to stand there and do nothing? Is that mother a good person? Is it the child's fault that he dies?

A few hours of suffering, extreme, I admit, then Emperor of the Universe.

I don't really call that a sacrifice.

"God" could have snapped his fingers and made his changes, and then sent down swarms of angels to tell the world all about it.

And I repeat - we're supposed to be impressed by that?

Nor would the deity actually be dead, in which case, Jesus never died.

Suicide is not a sin, The Bible does not seem to condemn suicide. There are, I think, six accounts of suicide in the Bible, the most notorious being those of King Saul (1 Samuel 31:2-5) and Judas (Matthew 27:3-5). Others are Abimelech (Judges 9:50-54), Samson (Judges 16:23-31), Ahithophel (2 Samuel 17:23), and Zimri (1 Kings 16:15-20), god doesn't care about anyone ending their lives early or not. Quite the contrary people started the whole thing about live is precious and people feeling that way should be helped and also made it illegal to commit suicide as its a act of indecency. While god does not care humans care because well it hurts others.
