"Exodus" film beats out "Hunger Games: Mockingjay"

RE: "Exodus" film beats out "Hunger Games: Mockingjay"
If my mother ever said "I told you so" over a movie choice that ended up not panning out, I'd start planning to put her in a home, because it meant she didn't have enough to occupy her brain during the day.

I think the point is that it bears all of the hallmarks of classic mythology, up to and including outrageous hyperbole all the way down. They would do the reverse later when telling the story of Gideon, and how his army of only 300 (hey...) defeated a numerically superior force... by shouting at them.

I do think it's funny when you realize that the story is telling us that the Israelites marched out of Egypt with an army that would probably have dwarfed that of the rest of the world combined. And what did they accomplish? Going in circles for 40 years without leaving a trace.

Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Archaeologist Israel Finkelstein and Egyptologist Donald Redford have both concluded that this Exodus horseshit was concocted in the the late 7th century and each used different lines of evidence to reach that conclusion. In archaeology, it doesn't get much better than that. Not so much "mythology" as a political tale concocted to give the Judahites a belief that their god would help them defeat the Egyptians as he had done once before.

Of course, it didn't work. The Egyptians deposed the Judahite king and left them easy pickings for the Babylonians who came along after they defeated the Egyptian/Assyrian alliance at Carchemesh.

Man, Ridley Scott done fucked up since Blade Runner.

Honestly, I don't have a huge issue with biblical movies (lots of films are based on fictional books) as long as they're not advertised as history.

But: the guy needs to stop.

Oh, btw, that Hunger Games picture was shit too.

But there's giant rock people in Noah, that walk and talk and build a boat and fight an army. That's worth the price of admission right there. I only wish they would have included dinosaurs. And maybe a giant nephilim vs rock man battle. The whole thing was as ridiculous as you'd expect a movie based on the bible to be.

Sadly, they cut the part where Ham butt-stuffs Noah, and in doing so, makes black people as a curse.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Yeah, I have to admit that it's cool that there are some filmmakers willing to treat Biblical tales like any other mythology and put in their own twists and changes. Perhaps the more pertinent question is, when will they do that with any of the stories in the Koran?

Once they're no longer managed by pussies who pull a movie because of threats made by anonymous hackers.
