Praying before eating is a ridiculous act.

Don't thank the farmer.
Don't thank the farm workers on minimum wage.
Don't thank the person that bought the food
Don't thank the person that prepared the food.

No, thank the one thing that has absolutly fuck all to do with it - the invisible man in the sky.

And if somehow this man in the sky were real, then why are you thanking it for creating a body that can starve, and putting it onto a planet where food is difficult to obtain such that one must be thankful for being fed. Bizare.

We had a prayer when I was a kid, which took care of complaint #4 above, at least:

'Matthew, Mark, Luke and John,
'Bless the food and the plate it's on.
'For the food that fills our tummy,
'Thank you God, and thank you, mummy.'

Well, at least it's short.

Not a short as 'Rub-a-dub-dub / Thanks for the grub / Yay God!'

Got a cup of tea thrown at me for that one.

Maybe it had envoked a less violent reaction if you'd said "Yo God!"

Christmas allows me to watch the Rankin Bass claymation movies without feeling like a complete weirdo, so there's that.

Not going to Julotta, a very early sometimes sunrise Christmas morning service. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve with smorgasbord and presents. In my youth this was followed by candlelight service (which we still sometimes do) but after celebrating Christmas until the wee hours, getting up for early service Christmas morning was a trial and tribulation. Christmas day is now very quiet for us: coffee cake in the morning, seafood soup for lunch, and leftover smorgasbord for dinner. It's family time and sleeping in sure beats Julotta.

Christmas profits. I make money in November and December. I suppose I would even if I weren't atheist, but I enjoy and encourage Christian spending.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

That's still longer than my favorite -
