To any religion? Short of god himself descending from heaven in front of you (even hardcore believers aren't holding their breath).

For myself I'd say god has his/her work cut out. It would probably require altering my ability to exercise free will. Most religions have too many hypocritical practices and texts for me to buy into the bs.

There is a further question if you're a theist. We'll give your intelligence the benifet of the doubt and ask why you still believe with all the evidence against the bible/torah/whatever?

With all the "proof" and "case" threads going on that are either trolls or actually trying convert a few of us, I'm curious.

"If" is a bridge. It's an attempt to not dismiss your bs completely in the interest of possibly carrying on a decent conversation. It is not always successful. The other atheists are not lying, just using the common language.

You're packing several vastly different assumptions into one little neat package that suits your generalising purpose.

First, there are three different premises of the same Abrahamic god that propose three sets of dogmas. And then there are thousands of different understandings of the same god within christianity. For us, I think I can speak for the majority, they are equally unbelievable, since a real almighty being would have made itself known across the board and without the shadow of a doubt.

Instead we have the total absence of evidence and vastly different accounts that only rely on one book, written thousands of years ago. And it's that particular god with his very human vices, genocidal tendencies and bigoted mindset that I wouldn't worship even if it was real. Worship requires respect and the being as described in the bible is worthy of contempt.

How come atheists would say if God were real and appeared to them or if they died and were brought into the presense of God.

As I do not believe in gods, ghosts, goblins, elves, trolls, vampyres, faeries, etc., I would have to assume that any entity that confronted me is either a liar or if it can perform real magic, then a figment of delusion.

Well, Isis was a pretty hot chick. Mind you, if she was one of those girls that wants guys to, you know... "spit in her face" then I guess we can reach an accommodation.

As for the first part, most atheists will say that because the god that they are often being told about meeting comes off like a boorish jerk at best, and a sadistic doucheturd the rest of the time. Being cursed and spit at is the nicest thing that he should expect. But since that asshole can't possibly exist, I don't think it's much of a concern.
