I agree. We should be helping all we can. That's what christians are supposed to do, so let's all help instead of just sitting around talking about it. Of course, while we are helping we should also be praying.

If one could only do one or the other, which is more important, praying or helping in the here and now?

Something shitty happens? The Lord works in mysterious ways. It was his will.

And, when someone's actions can in no way shape or form be credited to gawd's grace or his mysterious ways, then "The Devil made him do it."

I've come to believe that religion is a disease. A tough one to cure but an easy one to inoculate against. Sooooo glad I've inoculated my kids!

Why is the virgin birth and its so called divine cause so important?
(Not trying to hijack...no pun intended)

Virgin = valuable
Simple hijacking of the human male reproductive strategy.
1) virgins will have high reproductive worth
2) offspring will be of unquestionable paternity
3) some lesser likelihood of STD
Therefore they are highly in demand, particularly by frustrated young adult males who have been denied sexual outlet by their overbearing cultures.

Even females accept that high reproductive worth females are valued above males. Women don't fight the dictum, "Women and children first." very hard when push comes to shove.

Note that nobody ever thinks that the "72 virgins" means the females are virgins and 72 years old. You can't bribe people with dross.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

Hey Lek,
Did jesus shatter his mothers hymen at birth?

Surly the ghost version of jesus/god didn't have a penis to penetrate and break the virgin mothers hymen.

What do you think?

So jesus impregnated his mother and took her hymen/virginity at birth?

You guys have some sick beliefs.

Mary was impregnated by the Holy Spirit and, since he is spirit, he didn't have a penis to use to penetrate her.
