God's way of expressing his distaste for homosexuality was to literally say "if you do this you will be killed", why not just insert "keep slaves" instead of "lie with a man as one would a woman"?

It is likely that the people who wrote the bible owned slaves. What motivation would there be to say it's bad?

And the slave owning authors of the New Testament were Christian slave owners.

There are Christians who work at universities, research institutions, and other places who are qualified to write on this subject and myriad others. However, you referenced a particular site that has one goal: provide reasons to believe in Christianity. Would they come to any other conclusions regarding the Bible's treatment of slavery than the ones they mentioned? Of course not.
And, no, you shouldn't only seek out non-Christians for opinions. Nowhere did I suggest such. I only mentioned the obvious, glaring bias of that particular site.

Then why is it that you and the rest of the atheist sit on your hands while the greatest slave trading in history goes on right under you noses. There are 10's of thousands of young girls and boys sold into the sexual slavery every year. Christians are actually going to dangerous places in the world to help these girls and boys escape this slavery, yes that's right the church is using an underground railroad of sorts to free these young people while you and the rest sit on your hands and so you can have your own life and enjoy sitting around here . Let's ignore the unjustified assertions about what the church is and isn't doing, and the tu coque fallacy that lies at the heart of GC's- and I'm being generous here- "argument."
GC, how do you know we're not involved in charitable work fighting against slavery? Or some other form of charitable work that, while not in this specific area, nevertheless accomplishes important goals toward the betterment of society?
Oh, what's that? Y-you don't? You're just assuming the worst of us because it's convenient for the mud you want to sling? While you yourself want to ride on the coattails of whatever church projects you simply assert to exist, while probably not lifting a finger for them yourself? Wow, that's interesting...

GC Wow. So Christians are the only people in the world addressing sex slavery? And you know this how?
It pisses me off when a theist casts stones at atheists and others as though they occupy some moral high ground and are the only ones that do any good in the world. Well, you're dead wrong. Maybe if you'd climb down from your ivory tower you'd see that non-Christians of all kinds (atheists, agnostics, other religions, etc.) are capable of doing wonderful things.

*knocks off 10 atheist points* Already took care of my quota this morning. Drank vodka for breakfast, committed sodomy, and I kicked a homeless child. Honestly, it's tough to find time to get on here with all the evil I have to commit to keep my atheist card.
