A Surah like Suratal Kaffiroon?
January 16, 2015 at 5:16 pm
(This post was last modified: January 16, 2015 at 5:17 pm by Mystic.)
So I made this Surah that perhaps needs grammar changes but otherwise seems to look like Suratal Kaffiroon.
Say: O unjust people
I do not follow what you follow
Nor do you follow what I follow
Nor will I follow what you follow
Nor will you follow what I follow
To you is your path, and to me is a path
Qul Ya Ayuhal Thalimoon
la ataba ma tabaioon
wa la antum tabian ma ataba'
Wa la ana tabian ma tabaioon'
wa la antum tabian ma ataba'
Lakum sabeelakum wa lani sabeel
قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ {1}
[Shakir 109:1] Say: O unbelievers!
[Pickthal 109:1] Say: O disbelievers!
[Yusufali 109:1] Say : O ye that reject Faith!
لَا أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ {2}
[Shakir 109:2] I do not serve that which you serve,
[Pickthal 109:2] I worship not that which ye worship;
[Yusufali 109:2] I worship not that which ye worship,
وَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ {3}
[Shakir 109:3] Nor do you serve Him Whom I serve:
[Pickthal 109:3] Nor worship ye that which I worship.
[Yusufali 109:3] Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
وَلَا أَنَا عَابِدٌ مَا عَبَدْتُمْ {4}
[Shakir 109:4] Nor am I going to serve that which you serve,
[Pickthal 109:4] And I shall not worship that which ye worship.
[Yusufali 109:4] And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,
وَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ {5}
[Shakir 109:5] Nor are you going to serve Him Whom I serve:
[Pickthal 109:5] Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
[Yusufali 109:5] Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ {6}
[Shakir 109:6] You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion.
[Pickthal 109:6] Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion.
[Yusufali 109:6] To you be your Way, and to me mine.

My favorite bit of the koran, right thur.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Erm...can you make a surah? I'm not nearly as conversant with Islam as some posters here, but I was under the impression that a surah was a chapter of Quran, which book is (according to Muslims, at least) complete and immutable.
If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

The challenge is not to make a book, but a Surah. So this a Surah like it. It would fit in Quran and is similar to Suratal Kaffiroon.

Yes, I get that. But it is my understanding that the word 'surah' means specifically a chapter of the Quran, and nothing else. Since the Quran is inimitable (same caveat as above) you can't add to it, you can't fit anything into it. I suspect that an attempt to do so would be looked upon as a heresy by Muslims.

Boru The Quran challenges people to bring a Surah like it. Obviously from the standpoint of Quran only God can bring a Surah like it through his final Prophet.
But the challenge is if a human can make a chapter like that of a chapter of Quran.
And I think what I wrote is similar to a chapter of Quran (suratal Kaffiroon to be exact).

Is it very bad that I haven't the faintest idea what the meaning of all this is? Except that surahs are parts of the quran.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

The Quran claims that it is unlike any speech. It claims no mortal can bring a chapter like that of the Quran.
I'm taking up this challenge, and made up a chapter that seems like that of Suratal Kaffiroon.
Therefore it seems to me the challenge of the Quran has been met.

Take it up with your local imam and let me know the results.

I would not expect a local Imam to admit it's similar. But if you read the Arabic, there isn't much difference. And you can see translation wise, they are very similar.
