Please. I think Robvalue is really just appreciative of a job well done. I am too. This forum works because it is well moderated. Moderating here is a well done, but unpaid job. I'm grateful.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Yeah, I've migrated my posting from the guitar forum I regularly habituated in large part because the moderation there is so shitty, and the rules so tight. I took a week ban when a moderator told me "you'd argue at the drop of a hat" and I replied, "You're wrong." Oh, and he locked down one of the longest running threads I've eer seen online, for a few hours, in order to try and assemble peer pressure from the other regs.
The moderators here have brains and humor. There are one helluva lot of them, I was surprised to see how many folks wore green, but hey, they don't throw their weight around, it's all good.

The number of moderators tends to filter out personal bias. Our staff culture and tradition doesn't invest any one individual with too much authority, and the quorum system requires broad support for any serious action. Behind the scenes, we frequently disagree on a great many things, and we're generally biased against taking action much of the time.
Seems to work - but we're always looking to improve the process, and contrary to a few opinions, we really do strive to treat everyone fairly.

Don't read me wrong, I was simply surprised at the ratio of moderators to posters when I started being active.
