You're indeed wrong. They allow it over there, and I'm pretty sure it's permitted for women to initiate proceedings in cases of domestic abuse. I don't know if this would qualify under Saudi law, but I would certainly hope so.

I don't think it would. Especially not if he was against it and he appears to be a wealthy and influential religious leader.

I'm not either but I was just going on the assumption that money and power trumps laws. It's relevant to any country I think

Aside from how pathetic the system is, it's interesting that the first comment is from a man complaining that she's airing dirty laundry and making Saudi Arabia look bad. It's almost like a parody of the very attitudes she is describing in her blog post.
