Intro from a christian

Intro from a christian
Now lets begin with a prayer. Just kidding atheists.
My name is wiggy and the reason why I am here is to see how atheists think. I have debated many atheists and I am curious as to how they can be certain there is no God. After all bible says God hides his face from the wicked and gives them over to a depraved mind. A fool says there is no God.
I dont think I could ever be converted to atheism thats because I think I have all the answers to all of the difficult questions like hell and suffering and many false Gods. My belief is based on evidence of what I see and feel and experience. God to me is a graceous character full of love and hope for humanity. We are a vapour but God is eternal. I dont know why so many hate God when the gospel is about love. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend and that is what Jesus did for us.
I hope that I am wrong but Christianity makes too much sense to me. I dont want anyone to go to hell but hell is what it is and is reservered for the God hater. Deny the creator and lose your soul. Science even proves we have a soul.

Hello welcome Smile

Being atheist does not mean saying there is no god, it's saying there is no good reason to believe there is a god. Maybe you'd like to check out the full explanation on my website here.

http://robvalue.wix.com/atheism#!what-is-atheism/c57k

We don't hate God, we think it is most likely a fiction.

I hope we have some good discussions Smile

I am quite comfortable with the answer, "I don't know" to life's big questions. I prefer that honest answer to a story which I consider has been mostly made up.

Science has not proved we have a soul.

If you'd be interested in creating another thread I would love to hear where you heard this from.

Also, nice blog rob

Make yourself familiar with the term "circular reasoning".

Welcome to the forums. Please refrain from telling us we're going to hell. It's not a very nice first impression.

Thanks Bad Wolf Smile Appreciate it.

I've got circular reasoning on my site, I need to nick a picture like that for it :p

No one's going to hell, it's a fear tactic invented by religions to stop people leaving the religion or asking questions. I have absolutely no fear of it, no more than of invisible dragons swooping down and eating me.

Hi Wiggy!

If you've debated many atheists, you probably already have some idea how many of us think. So I find it surprising you missed the fact that atheists don't find the Bible a very reliable document. Use exhortations from it, and we roll our eyes.

If you want to know why I in particular don't believe in a god or gods generally, it's because there is no evidence of them. If you want to know why I don't believe in the Christian god, the answer is the same, plus that the god described by the Christians is repulsive, contradictory, and arbitrary. The sacrifice of Jesus story in morally insane. Not to mention that the stories in his holy book are a mass of contradictions both internally and historically. I'm sorry if that's insulting, but it happens to be the answer you were looking for.

I'd like to see what you have for scientific proof of a soul. That ought to be amusing.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

Yeah, that's a good first impression, insult all of us. Real nice.

For the intellectually honest, it's not so much out of certainty, than rather that nothing suggest that such an entity would actually exist, but rather that it's nothing more than a fictive character made up in the minds of it's followers.

Oh dear.. I have a lot I'd like to say about this passage, but since this is the intro forum.. Yeah, it'll have to wait for another time.

Quote:My belief is based on evidence of what I see and feel and experience.

As it is for anyone else. Just remember, the universe favors no specific points.

Quote:I dont know why so many hate God when the gospel is about love.

Only those who believe in a god can hate it. The rest hate it in the same way one would Voldemort. And sadly, only a small part of the Bible is about love, much of it is unfortunately not.

Quote:Deny the creator and lose your soul. Science even proves we have a soul.

Yeah, I'd like to see that proof one day. For now, I call bullshit.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Yes...one should not waste time hating something which does not exist.

Believers....OTOH....do exist and make it easy to despise them.
