That's the only image of Jesus I ever saw in a church. He certainly never looked like a jewish man from the desert.

Because the pictures depicting a white Jesus are probably more likely modeled after Serapis bey.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serapis_Bey

Quote:Serapis Bey sometimes written as Serapis, is regarded in Theosophy as being one of the Masters of the Ancient Wisdom; and in the Ascended Master Teachings is considered to be an Ascended Master and member of the Great White Brotherhood

what we know and are familiar with as being "Jew" in modern times are actually Ashkenazi Jews, which are of European descent.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashkenazi_Jews

Quote:Ashkenazi Jews, also known as Ashkenazic Jews or simply Ashkenazim (Hebrew: אַשְׁכְּנַזִּים, Ashkenazi Hebrew pronunciation: [ˌaʃkəˈnazim], singular: [ˌaʃkəˈnazi], Modern Hebrew: [aʃkenaˈzim, aʃkenaˈzi]; also יְהוּדֵי אַשְׁכֲּנַז Y'hudey Ashkenaz, lit. "The Jews of Germany"), are a Jewish ethnic division that coalesced in the Holy Roman Empire around the end of the 1st millennium. The traditional language of Ashkenazi Jews consisted of various dialects of Yiddish.

Quote:It is estimated that in the 11th century Ashkenazi Jews composed only three percent of the world's Jewish population, while at their peak in 1931 they accounted for 92 percent of the world's Jews. Immediately prior to the Holocaust, the number of Jews in the world stood at approximately 16.7 million.

http://www.jewfaq.org/ashkseph.htm
Quote:Ashkenazic Jews are the Jews of France, Germany, and Eastern Europe and their descendants. The adjective "Ashkenazic" and corresponding nouns, Ashkenazi (singular) and Ashkenazim (plural) are derived from the Hebrew word "Ashkenaz," which is used to refer to Germany.

Quote:Sephardic Jews are the Jews of Spain, Portugal, North Africa and the Middle East and their descendants.

Interesting side note, the hexagram (aka Star of David) was never used by David and is actually also used in occultism. The symbol for the ancient Hebrews was the menorah.
Quote:Revelation 1
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexagram
Quote:The hexagram, like the pentagram, was and is used in practices of the occult and ceremonial magic and is attributed to the 7 "old" planets outlined in astrology.

The six-pointed star is commonly used both as a talisman[4] and for conjuring spirits and spiritual forces in divers forms occult magic. In the book The History and Practice of Magic, Vol. 2, the six-pointed star is called the talisman of Saturn and it is also referred to as the Seal of Solomon.
Quote:Revelation 2
9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Naturally, they being of Scandinavian decent themselves for the most part. They tended to forget that Jesus was Jewish. Wink

Sounds a bit tricky, as modern depictions of Jesus date from the late 15th Century, and Serapis Bey was invented in the 1870s.
