This same guy told me that one CAN be good without believing in god, which is contradictory to what he said just minutes before this (the first example above), but that being a good person in and of itself is not enough to get into heaven. You HAVE TO accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior to be accepted into the kingdom of heaven.

I had a pastor in Iowa tell me the same thing! The disconnect in his mind must have been very strong because I don't think that he would have ever knowingly hurt anyone and yet, he taught these awful beliefs that he thought were beautiful.

According to him, it didn't matter is someone was good in life, if they didn't have faith in Jesus, they were doomed to hell.

If we want to get into ignorant things people say that aren't related to theism, we have statements like only Humans kill each other for sport. Certainly nto true, if you watch any nature documentaries. Also in a movie with animals, if theres one species of animal befriending one of another species, someone will say "If they can't do it, why can't we?". Except we do. All the time. Just not everyone, everywhere. No different from every dog befriending every dolphin. Incidentally, i forget the name of the movie.

Yes, how could we forget people who think Hitler was an atheist. Putting him in the same group as Stalin, Mao, and pol Pot. Though Pol Pot was raised catholic. Not that atheists are the ones with a book that commands them to kill people with different beliefs.

Right! Even if they were Atheists, there's no direct link between their actions and Atheism. What if they also happened to be vegetarians? It would make just as much sense to attribute their actions as the result of what people do who don't believe in eating meat. Nonsense.
