Nice little rant. Ignorant as always about many of us, since a large part of us here on this board are in opposition of capital punishment. That means, death row shouldn't exist in the first place, which is more than can be said about many of your fellow christians, at least when it comes to politicians. I don't know your stance, so, as opposed to your not so humble self, I'm not including you personally.

So she should get off, but not for the reasons given. She should get off because she got sentenced to a barbaric and inhumane punishment.

Wasn't a rant, and not all of you are against capital punishment, I read the posts. I believe in capital punishment when it fits the crime, I also believe in mercy when people deserve to receive it. Seems she might just deserve some mercy, at least her cell mates seem to think so. The process of the law is what it is and if her death sentence isn't commuted then she will receive the justice a court decided. This isn't my decision, it belongs to those who are responsible for justice and I believe in the system. Such people tend to have very emotional reactions to the question and seldom have the qualifications one would look for in appointing one to opine on such ethical and legal questions. No, I rather think it's a bad idea. And I rather suspect you only suggested it to make an appeal to emotion in lieu of a rational argument for said capital punishment. (Not to mention that asking the violently murdered is rather unproductive as they are dead.)

Cheap and often heard appeal to emotions. Would I want to hurt someone, who's done something horrible to my loved ones? Sure. But a society shouldn't be about revenge killings. It's primitive, it's disgusting and it has no other purpose.

Yes I know the dead can't answer us, at least directly, their lives could tell us if we look. My whole point was to get him to think about the situation if it were his family. There was a double murder here several years ago, it was as atrocious as one could imagine, no what they did was unimaginable. Almost everyone in this area thought the only punishment for the three men should have been death, some crimes are so awful they cry for equal punishment.

They'd rather she live out the rest of her days in a prison cell, in constant temptation, than be "released from her burden" and join her god.

Christians do not believe she should be let off the hook for her crime, they do see that God may have a purpose for her in prison, to help others find Christ.

That could be a dangerous road to travel, it could limit the appeals process for those who might be innocent. Many try to get most people off death row because they simply do not believe in it, that IMO is the lamest reason, as long as it's law it's Law. Changing the law is a better way for them to go.

Regardless of anyone's feelings on the death penalty, this is Christians asking for special application of the law because of one criminal's beliefs. It's absolutley absurd on so many levels to think that a religious conversion should affect someone's punishment that it's hard to know where to start.
