You've certainly got the 'being dishonest' part down pat.

Which one would you go for? Tough choice, go for as in fits closer with my particular worldview or go with as in the overall amusement value of a world in which it were true? Can I go either way with it?

The guest list is discerning, and you have to die every day after being granted entry- in a particularly gruesome way - for a veeery long time...until ragnarok. Valhalla is a cosmic militia mustering hall where dead soldiers gather for a final battle in which they will all die -for good-. Civvies don't get to go. You do have the option of throwing yourself off a cliff, if you fail to die gloriously in battle, of course. That's the wildcard.
-NVM with the initial questions..I have it. Cargo cults, on both counts. I wish it were true (think about it), and it would be hilariously amusing if it were.

I didn't hear that you have to die every day. Only that you spend your days fighting, and if you die you just come back to the mead hall or whatever. And yeah, Humans won't survive ragnarok. Neither will most of the gods.

Everybody dies every day in glorious battle, to be resurrected the following day for yet another. Wargames in prep for the apocalypse. More than anything else, these stories are a narrative of perpetual conflict (to be expected, the aesir are wargods).
(two humans do, in some of the narratives....though that may be later christian influence, as the very popularity of the ragnarok episode may be in it;s entirety...that might have once been a minor outlying story, a minority report; the story can -but doesn't have to- end with two people emerging from a hidden place, a tree, a garden - etc)

I'd like random reincarnation. I'd like to grow wiser in each reincarnation, but not necessarily remember them.

The norse myths didn't get written down much until after christians came along, so there's some christian influence in the myths. Christians were fond of taking things from other religions to help conversions, and twisting other religions to fit better with their beliefs.

True (although it wasn't -much after- in the overall timeframe of the culture- everything we get is circa 13, they'd been thoroughly christianized by 10...and had been existent since the upper paleolithic as a cultural bloc, thats a long time to build habits and narratives for, say, 400 years to mangle), but in the case of the two emerging from a tree it essentially sets up a cyclical narrative for that pantheon - which is pretty common. Ask and Embla, anglicized, btw. I think that it's a satisfying thought, that this sort of cap be put on the narrative - but that may be due to our exposure with other such narratives rather than anything actually intended by the authors. Compilation, rather than composition, maybe.
If you'd rather go to the drinking valhalla, and you prefer the epic "everyone dies at the end" ending..I think it;s well within your right to petition that doorman. I'll start the line at the cliff, you can start the line at the bar....deal?

I believe such a decision can't be properly made without fighting over it first. It's the only manly way.

Seconded, Tyr will decide the matter.
(seriously, nobody else has love for the cargo cults...we could call each other Fromies!)

Not a religion per se, but I would probably go with Tolkien's mythology.
