Well said. That is precisely what sin is meant to do: control people. Convince them their very thoughts are wicked and that they need redemption. Then coerce them into doing whatever you tell them... or jut get their credit cards.

Sin is disobedience to Yahweh. It's things Yahweh doesn't like. So it doesn't have much to do with good and evil, though some things that are sins are also bad things. There is overlap, but sin is not synonymous with evil.

It's hard not to sin when you're capable of thinking for yourself. Especially when Yahweh considers thoughts and actions equivalent. Got to raise the bar impossibly high in order to keep people dependent, like a good dictator.

Thoughts are sins, according to the bible. Thou shalt not covet is thought crime. Then we have Jesus saying it explicitly in the new testament.

Everything is equal, except there may be one that's worse than others. What that is varies, like so many other things with the holy text.

And when you think like a theist, with absolute rigidity, you wind up in bizzarro land where people like the person who hid Anne Frank was a sinner because they deliberately lied to the Nazis.

If your infected even alittle then you can not mix with the rest of the population.

You can't say well I am infected with the Zombie virus, but I give to unicef generously. or I am indeed infected but I'm basically a 'good person.'

You may say What has anne frank done wrong? She has only been bitten by a Zombie and just the once. Shes a good person, lets allow her to mix in with other healthy people, because she is 'moral'.

But, how does that make since when the sickness she has will over come who she is and given enough time (Say eternity future) will transform her into a monster.

Sin is more like being in an abusive relationship.

You can change how you act, how you think, but nothing you do will guarantee that you're ever good enough for them. That they won't hit you again.
