Depends on how you define "natural born citizen" in the eligibility requirements for the office of President.

He was born in Alberta, Canada to a Cuban father and an American mother.

If you define "natural born citizen" as a person born "inheriting" the citizenship of their parents, then yes, Cruz is eligible because his mother is American. If it is defined as only people born within the borders of the United States, then no.

He even has his own entry on the "Natural Born Citizen" article on wikipedia discussing his Presidential eligibility. The consensus seems to be that because his mother was a US citizen, he was born with US citizenship and is therefore eligible. Fuck. Dodgy

Unlike those assholes who think Hawaii isn't a state, if that is the law I won't bother with trying to make it an issue in a court. I think we have enough dirt on that dumfuck to bury him in any case.

I'm actually interested in whether Dems will pursue Cruz on this front just so we can all watch the hypocrisy of the Repubs explain how a man who was born in Canada but has a US citizen mother is totally eligible for President, but that a man with a US citizen mother and who was born within the borders of the United States, on United States soil, wasn't.

I kind of really want to see this happen.

I'm still trying to figure out how anyone trying to run a serious campaign for the Presidency can decide that the best place to formally announce it is at the bastion of intelligentsia... Liberty University...
