I'm still trying to figure out how anyone trying to run a serious campaign for the Presidency can decide that the best place to formally announce it is at the bastion of intelligentsia... Liberty University...

I was thinking about this driving home from work. He's clearly trying to court the religious right and the Teabaggers.

First off, I think his political calculus is wrong. The first group is shrinking relatively quickly, and the second was already in his pocket -- his biggest competitors, Governor Goodhair Perry and King Bush the Third both alienate Teabaggers with their softer positions anyway. Cruz's task is not to woo the far right, but to woo the centrists, and that is gonna be a very uphill battle for a douchopottamus of his proportions.

The good thing is this: by announcing from Liberty "University", he has taken the first step to catalyzing his opposition, so that if he does indeed win the primary -- and I don't think he will, I think Bush III has much better networking -- but if Cruz goes to the general election, the Dem nominee will beat him over the head with his religitard connections, starting with fellating the ghost of Falwell.
