Why is christianity a "Blood Cult"
#11
RE: Why is christianity a "Blood Cult"
Blood is associated with dead animals, not plants.
Muscle, fat and organ meat were hard to come by  and valuable the old hunter/gatherer days.
Getting others to give you meat would be a scam that benefited you and your family (e.g. the Levites.)
Having a magic threat kept the animal sacrifices coming (you can eat them the day after they are
offered to the Gods if They don't take them and somehow, They never do.)
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

What would be the pleasing feature of dribbling blood over a hearth that would be important to a god?

Why don't christians drink jesus' piss in remembrance of him? It could open up white wine sales for the catlicks and Mountain Dew for the baptists!

Blood has been associated with life.  (Think about the word "lifeblood.")  Urine isn't associated with life.  Draining the blood out of a person kills him, thus depriving him of life.  Draining the urine out of a person does not kill him, and thus does not deprive him of live.  So it isn't random.

Now, I have a question for you.  Are you being serious in these questions, or are you just joking around?

No, I'm serious for the first part.. not about the urine ..

No the answers so far are from the human point of view, assuming that god is a creation of man, as I believe as well. but what I'm hoping to see is how an assumed god from a theist's point of view would have any need for animal blood. Why would a supposed "REAL" god want his creations killed?

If I had a huge aquarium with my prize family of Angelfish along with my stock of feeder shrimp, I would not be happy if they started wasting the shrimp and killing it for naught. So why would a god? What is the logic? What would be the logic of the fish spilling the shrimp's entrails in a certain way, why would I care or desire that ritual?

God said the soul that sins will die, the justice of God demands perfection which is far from us.

The sacrifices in the OT were to cover (atone) sin.
This looked forward to the Redemption Jesus paid for which removed the penalty both for those who trust in His shed blood and for those who trusted Him previously.
The life is in the blood according to God.
God takes seriously our actions, yet provided a way to justify us.

Got it.  So the question isn't why Judaism and Christianity are blood cults; the question is, what is the justification for being a blood cult within the doctrines and ideas of Judaism and Christianity?  Why would god want those things?

Somehow, I don't think you are going to get a coherent answer to that, as it really does not make any sense at all.

God was illustrating His standard of justice by blood.
Remove that and there is no foundation to either Judiasim or Christianity.
It only make no sense to those who do not understand God's perfection and plan.

Yes, you said that much more succinctly than I did. Thank you,

A "standard of justice by blood?" What does that mean?? Just because you slap four words together doesn't make the thought coherent.   Does the U.S. Judicial system have a standard of justice by bodily fluids?

Please explain what you are calling a "standard" that applies to a godly justice, then explain how that Justice standard needs bodily fluids in any way.

Maybe it's all something to do with blood being the currency of human/animal life?

Meh, if you've ever seen someone bleed out it;s easy to understand the intuitive conclusion that blood is life.  It's marked, it's progressive...you need no training or special knowledge to observe the effect over time.   Human beings - as a species-...have watched each other bleed out...alot.  It's unsurprising to see that so many have made that connection.
