A recent paper suggest we might actually still be in a closed universe. Link here. I don't know if that is where dyre got the idea from.

But it is at least interesting. I can't tell with a quick glance whether it holds up under scrutiny, but they at least claim to have found a mechanism to explain the smallness of vacuum energy...
