If it makes their lives better off then they should.
When I retire, I have thought about working part time for minimum wage. I'd have to find a job that I absolutely love. I'd do it not for the wage but because I love it. I'd want minimum wage even if they would pay me more because I'd be collecting social security and that is a poverty trap.
Somebody like Brian, who isn't saving a nickle, won't be able to live off social security alone. He will probably have to work until he dies. The problem is if he earns too much when he is collecting social security they penalize him. That penalty will keep him poorer than he has to be. That is why the social security benefit is a poverty trap for people like Brian.
Lots of government handouts are poverty traps. They help people in the short term, but because of the rules the create incentives for people to remain poor. It is one of the reasons why I advocate getting rid of this rag bag of government programs and all the federal employees who administer them, and replace it all with a universal basic income that has no strings attached. You get it simply for being alive.
Oh, so its not the low wages that are keeping people poor, it's really all the wonderful benefits that poor people get ?

Wow, I am closer to Trump really? I live in a trailer and my mom pays my bills for me. I am quite sure Trump pays his own bills.
Thank you for proving Orwell was right. You are the poster child for Double Speak.
Thanks for the laugh Haywood.
An unemployed dishwasher has the same monetary power as Trump? You should market that drug, because that conclusion would require the same delusion as heroine and crack cocaine. An Ethopian digs a hole, squats, and takes a shit. He wipes his ass with a leaf...maybe. Then he buries the excrement.
You and Donald have something in common. You both shit in toilets. Your life is so much more like Donalds than the Ethopian that it isn't even close. You are Donald Trump to the Ethopian. Your heated trailer with hot and cold running water is mansion to his stick and leaf hut. That is something else you have in common with Donald Trump....you both have hot and cold running water in your home. The Ethopian has to walk miles to the mud hole, gather some water and haul it miles back to his home.
You simply have so much more in common with Donald Trump than you do with the Ethopian. If you are worried about disparate impact. You should be concerned with the Ethopian more than you should be concerned with Donald. That Ethopian....he might slit your throat to get at your riches.
Consistency demands that if we redistribute Donalds wealth....then we should re-distribute yours as well. Are you ready for that?

"Export the poor in 2016" No matter what you do there will always be poor people. If you want to make poor people better off then the solution is to produce more stuff. More production equal cheaper goods and service...equals more access to those goods and service by poor people.
Its trickle down economics....and it works bitches.
If it didn't work, then poor people today would be worse off than poor people of yesterday. Of course idiots and progressotard(I suppose they are the same thing) will tell you otherwise. The will try to convince you that the poor are worse off today than they were in the past. That is simply not true and anyone who conveys that message is either an idiot or trying to get idiots to vote for them.

What alternate planet have you been living on for the last 30 years? Trickle down economics has been proven to be such a joke that even conservatives don't use that phrase anymore. All it has done is concentrate more wealth at the very top. Every time it's been tried, on a state or federal level, it's proven to be a failure.

Quite often yes.
I have seen things like what is described in the video happen on several occasions. For instance I have seen people take a leave because if they continued to work their child would not qualify for a state needs grant for college. I have seen people ask for hours reductions lest their social security benefits get penalized if they earn too much money.
In both situations the government program made the person a less productive member of society than they otherwise would have been.
Sure Diest.....except that it hasn't.
