Or is it just a useless flashback of her time spent there to show how dumb she has been lately?

She raised up the High Sparrow to a position of moral authority in order to fuck with the Tyrells.  She didn't think she'd also be under scrutiny when she did so; she was too arrogant, in true Cersei fashion, and was brought up on her own charges.

No... and I haven't read the books past ASoS (I am a crazy avid reader, but ASoIaF really fucks with my ADD), but apparently they've been deviating a lot. Some people are stoked that they aren't dealing with spoilers as such, but others are angry and confused. I'm kind of glad I haven't been reading all the books at this point; I'm having an easier time keeping up, I think. I might try to go back and read them after the series is over.

I think that is probably reserved for the last episode, titled "Mother's Mercy" (Mother as in one of the Seven)

One difference from what I remember of the books is I think Cersi was the first and only royal jailed by the sparrows.  Her naked walk will be her atonement.  I don't think we know how the sparrow situation will resolve itself as I don't recall it doing so in the books.

I don't recall learning anything about any particular white walker, let alone some suped-up, kingly ones.  Maybe an odd reference or two but no action scenes that I recall.

I've read somewhere online that there are supposed to be ice dragons as well as the fire dragons we know and love.  I sure would like to get a new book to read soon.
