I would like to think that I feel more kinship with liberal Christians than with some of these types of atheists. I think that's true for certain aspects of politics and social issues, but the kinship might only go so far - when it comes to hard questions like choice in dying and abortion, they probably don't see eye to eye.
I have a kind of science driven secular spiritual outlook on the universe and I think any belief in personal Gods cheapens the universe immensely, reducing it from this incomprehensibly vast wondrous thing to the playground of a mad child. Also, the Christian will always want to believe we humans are special flowers for
whom the universe was made. Again, diametrically opposed to the basis of my world view.
