Now when people in the west complain about my word choice claiming it causes more zealotry, that is to me no different than blaming a rape victim. I don't give one fuck if someone cusses you out, if they have no intent on murdering you have no right to physically harm anyone. PERIOD!
THIS is why no one has the right to dictate word choice. I refuse to coddle the insecurities of violent fucks by verbally playing nice with them. Next time someone jumps on me for my word choice think about this woman. This is whom you do not help by claiming "play nice" works. She did play nice and to the assholes who murdered her, to them even her politeness might as well have been curse words. To violent people there is no difference.

That is unbelievably sad I'm very sorry for her and her family. She was doing a really brave thing.
If people are that scared about their ideas being discussed, maybe they should get ideas they can defend with words.

This is exactly why when people jump on me for my word choices, I suggest they get their priorities in order. Instead of getting angry at me for getting angry at the right people, get angry at them.
Now I have been at this for 14 years and have never claimed there is one tactic we should use. I never will claim that. But when people claim blasphemy creates more zealots, no, that is exactly what allows violent people to bully minorities.
The worst anyone will ever get out of me is a "bullshit" or "that makes no sense". No one deserves to die over words.

I agree. People should be able to discuss and mock ideas and beliefs as much as they want.
If people holding those ideas cannot differentiate between themselves and the ideas, that is their problem. They need to grow up. They can rebut, ignore it or report it. Don't turn to violence. The problem of course is that a rebuttal is considerably more difficult when your beliefs make no sense. Too bad. Maybe you should evaluate those beliefs.
Someone can insult atheism all day long, and secularism, whatever. Call it any name you want. I don't give a monkeys, and I'd never come and hit you for it. If you make a point worth debating, I'll rebut. Otherwise I'll ignore you.

I get the good intent of playing nice verbally, I have no problem with that, but all I am saying is you cant simply slap one tactic on a diverse species. We can however always agree no matter what is said, no one has a right to respond with physical violence or advocate violence over merely getting offended.
It is also why I think it is good to see the verbal disagreements between atheists. It undermines the theists argument that we are goose stepping Hitler lovers.

BINGO,
If you have to get your point across by law or gunpoint because your idea got offended, you DO NOT have an idea worth defending.
No again, no, that does not mean cuss people out in every context. It merely means "never" is not a good tactic to keep the peace.
Getting your idea picked on is not a crime. Murdering someone merely because they picked on your idea is a crime.

I won't always ignore it, but I certainly wont get violent over it. If you know the difference between when a bigot wants you to burn in hell merely because you exist, and say a religious person who is ignorant but well intended out of concern, blaspheming either still would not give them the right to get violent with you.
But I do know the difference between Malala and say the assholes who shot her. The worst Malala would get form me is "bullshit, your god is just as made up as any other" and I would expect the worst she would say to me is "you're being a dick". But as a human, Malala understands my blasphemy to her would not be a crime. And that I can live with.

So, a normal day in Pakistan then? When will they become the democracy they once dreamed of? To think that country has nuclear weapons. It's full of so many bigots it's unbelievable!
