Archer number 147 got killed by an arrow during the siege. Our supply of meat is running low. Just send the body to the butcher shop, and don't tell people what soylent green actually is.

Mat 10:34
Egomanical family-values Jesus at his best
34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

John 3:18 'He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.'
This to me sums up the paucity of Christianity and the idiotic nature of redemption. Implicit in the verse is the affirmation that your life doesn't matter. Fuck helping the less fortunate, fuck being kind to animals, fuck fidelity, charity, honesty, and love. ALL that matters is that you believe in Jesus. You can be an utter shitehawk, but if you believe in Jesus you're saved forever and ever amen. You can be an exemplary human being in all other matters, but lack of belief in an unconvincing story has already condemned you, not to mention the more than half of humanity that doesn't swallow this tripe.
Easily the cruelest verse in the Bible.

Why, it's almost as though religion exists mostly to create an ever expanding population of people who are unquestioning and easily swayed to whatever whim the leadership has....

Hard time deciding between this
Genesis 16:8
And he said “Hagar, Sarai’s slave girl, where have you come from and where are you going?” She answered, “I’m running away from Sarai, my mistress.” The angel of the Lord said to her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to ill treatment at her hands.”
And this
Deut. 23:1
No man whose testicles have been crushed or whose organ has been cut off may become a member of the Assembly of God.

Amos 4:4,"...and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your TITHES ..."
Send money to keep the imaginary guy happy.
Of course He takes it. It disappears, doesn't it?
Bronze age genius, sheer genius. Still works.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

Hey, Creflo promised me that he was only skimming off the top until he could pay for his $65m private jet. Everything else goes directly to god.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin
Sorry - but first - "He" is a MYTH - no blood - no purification - no a real person to begin with - and YOU cannot prove otherwise
THen - there are THOUSANDs of competing sects of your religion - who do not have a fellowship with each other.
The majority of THEISTS in the world do not worship "him"
And in Western countries - the few that still do - are getting less and less - and that fraud is eventually going to become extinct.
1 Timothy 2 - Because it Contradicts the religion on the most basic belief - and also IS obviously SEXIST nosnese as well
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.
8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
11 A woman[ a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[ b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women[ c] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
The passage CLEARLY says that there is ONE GOD - and the Christ is a MAN (See 5 above)- and a mediator between God and other men. (AND it meant MEN - not humans) - the christ is NOT god.
And it also clearly says that women should not have any place of power or control over men - or to teach men. ANd IT does so by quoting the Old Testament FAIRY TALE - of EDEN which we KNOW is NOT true.

Verses that I actually like deal with how to treat the poor. Jesus said basically that if a person mistreats the poor and do not actively feed and clothe them then he would not know them in heaven even if they called him Lord on earth. That is pretty powerful and if Christians focused on actions as a requirement to be part of their religion then they would probably do less damage in the world. However, like Brian pointed out, Christians focus on believing in Jesus and many of them ignore the fact that their founder told them to do certain things.
Here is an analogy from the bible that I like for its overall screwiness. God basically goes for a walk and finds an abandoned baby. He saves the child and when she enters puberty, he makes her his wife but she cheats on him and he is pissed. It is such a weird analogy about Israel's relationship with god especially the image of god deciding when he can sleep with his young adopted daughter.
Ezekiel 16
4
Quote: On the day you were bornyour cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths. 5 No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised.
6 “‘Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, “Live!”[a] 7 I made you grow like a plant of the field. You grew and developed and entered puberty. Your breasts had formed and your hair had grown, yet you were stark naked.
8 “‘Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.
