It is part of her god belief.  It says in the Bible that God created the earth.  If she believes in the God of the Bible, what do you expect her to say for how the earth started?

They mostly probably don't, because they are mostly Catholics themselves.

I should probably apologize for the way that previous post is worded, as the Catholic school part is from another thread.  There is no reason why you should have realized that it was a Catholic school.  But regardless, pretty much every Christian regards God as the creator of the universe, whether they teach physics or not, and no matter whether they teach in a religious school, a public school, or are not a teacher.  One should expect that a Christian who teaches physics believes that God created everything, regardless of their degree.

A few weeks ago I had a lesson in physics about stars and the big bang. My teacher was explaining how there is alot of evidence for the big bang and how that's most likely how the universe began. Somebody in my class asked her "Do you believe that God made earth and all living things or do you believe the universe began after the big bang". To which she answered "I believe that God made earth in 6 days". I was going to question her reasoning but I just couldn't be bothered as alot of people in my class think I'm some kind of weird satanist for not believing in God. I just facepalmed so hard. I mean she has a masters degree in physics and explains how the big bang is true but then goes on to say how she's a creationist. I wouldn't give a shit if she said that she believes in God, but seriously, a physics teacher a creationist! I even told my Mum who is a catholic and she even laughed at the teacher and called her stupid.

No, the Catholic church actually came to acknowledge the Big Bang theory as well as evolution. They only perform mental acrobatics to align it with god. Which can be observed in the OP statement.

For several years, Australian creationists, representing the Creation Science Foundation Ltd, [now Answers in Genesis] have been publishing articles and addressing school and public groups on the topic of the age of the Earth. The theme of these articles and talks is that there is scientific evidence that the geological features of Australia are explicable within the context of an Earth which is only some 6-10,000 years old and that most such features can be attributed to a world-wide flood which occurred more recently still. The author of these claims made them with the authority of a BSc (Hons) in Geology and a PhD. However, in a recently published paper, this same author makes some very different claims about the age of geological features of the Australian landscape.

These remarkably contradictory, and unexplained, claims by one of the very few Australian creation 'scientists' who has genuine scientific qualifications, calls into question whether anything said by this group on the subject can be taken seriously.
