Biblical Prayer Contradictions

Good one, what is it like living in a dream world, where everything that happens is god's will? What is it like to sit there and read one passage of the bible and go to a different section, and it says something that completely contrasts the previous verse, and then you have to ignore it, or make some dumbass excuse for it? What prayers has god answered for you? How has god proved himself to you?

Is it those warm and fuzzy feelings you get when you pray? Is that your proof that god exists?

I do not depend on warm fuzzy feelings, I watch for God working. I have no idea what it's like to live in a dream world, do you? I've not seen contradictions in the Bible and I've read and studied it from beginning to end for many years, if you've seen contradictions then they have been of your own making. God has answered many prayers for me from needs in my life to the needs in others lives, I'm sorry you haven't experienced God and His great love but, there's always tomorrow.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

The proof is, “I watch for god working.” Where have you seen god, and what was god doing? Was god working at a Wal-Mart greeting people as they walk in?

Quote:I have no idea what it's like to live in a dream world, do you?

Absolutely, I was a catholic (for most of life), then a christian, then only a gospel believing christian, then a non-religious spiritualist. I believed I was in contact with a god every day for most of my life, so, yes, I know what it’s like living in a dream world and deluding myself from reality. I had to keep ignoring things in the catholic faith, and then the bible, to actually keep believing in them. There were too many things wrong in the bible, and I couldn’t believe in them any more. If, I wanted to remain a sane and honest person, I had to drop the fairy tales. That’s what honest people do, they see many things wrong with a book claimed to be the word of god, they realize their faith is no longer justified, then they stop believing in it.

Quote:I've not seen contradictions in the Bible and I've read and studied it from beginning to end for many years, if you've seen contradictions then they have been of your own making

You’re lying about studying the bible for years or not seeing any contradictions in it. And, you’re lying about me making up contradictions in the bible.

Again, how do you experience god’s love? That wonderful feeling you get from prayer and worship? Sharing joyous experiences with loved ones, and claiming that, to be experiencing god? Looking around you, and seeing how beautiful nature is, is that proof of a god? What does god look like, since he has revealed himself to you, and you see him ‘working’?

The bible contradicts itself from page to fucking page. It can't even tell a story straight without changing details, some banal, some as important as how someone died. It would be a poor show for a submission in creative writing, let alone divine writing.

We can see the contradictions clearly because we can read the actual words, not what Pastor Peabody tells us the words are and what they "really mean". I think this filtering process happens so fast people don't even realize it's happening. It's a coping mechanism for preserving a predrawn conclusion at all costs.

We can all point to stuff happening around us and say, "X did it!" It proves absolutely nothing, except our minds are completely closed.

Hmmmm. Now I can understand where the bigotry of the religious right comes from.

Thanks, Drippy.

Well, aren't you special. Please explain why, in the face of earnest prayers from the devout, God doesn't see fit to heal an amputee, ever!

^^ I'm sure you'll get some bullshit about how re-growing a limb is not the same as healing, or the amputee learned a valuable life lesson that would be lessened if the limb grew back, or just plain old "mysterious ways." Nothing their omnipotent gawd is powerless to do is ever enough to shake their faith.

I don't care if the bible contradicts with itself, because it contradicts with reality.

If only it actually was that easy. There would be no organized religion on such a large scale. If, the religious folks were actually honest and open-minded, and could look at that, with some level of intelligence/honesty, (not sure what kind of word to use) they would start to seriously question the validity of those claims in that book that allegedly was god inspired.

On another thread, I asked someone what were jesus’s last words, I was given a single answer. There wasn’t a response that should have went something like this, “Well, in 4 of the gospels, there are 3 different accounts that contradict each other.” Instead, I got a single answer. How the fuck can someone just flat out ignore that? This is supposed to be god’s word, and there are many of these, not to mention, what CapnAwesome just said, stories that also contradict reality and fact. I mean, how the fuck can you ignore that?? You’d think that people would actually care what they believed was true or not. You’d think people would care whether or not, that they were wasting their time worshipping something on the basis of a book put together by human beings with, for the most part, poor morals. You'd think people would care that they were wasting their time worshipping something on the basis of a fallacious, inaccurate, demented, book. But no, they love living a life of pure ignorance. They love ignoring information placed right in front of their clueless faces. They love to argue against facts. Why? Because of a stupid fucking book.

WAKE THE FUCK UP, THE BIBLE IS FULL OF ERRONEOUS MATERIAL!!

SERIOUSLY, WAKE THE FUCK UP, AND START USING SOME COMMON SENSE!!
