Qatar World Cup: over 900 workers died already, could be as high as 4000 by kick off

Quote:More Than 900 Workers Have Already Died Building Qatar’s World Cup Infrastructure

The International Trade Union Confederation says that if conditions don’t improve, at least 4,000 migrants will die before kick-off

As if the circumstances surrounding the Qatar World Cup weren't sickening enough already.

I hate to say it but appalling as it is I'm not surprised. Happens all the time in these Middle Eastern oil countries, where these builders (often immigrants from South and South-East Asia) are basically in slave conditions. Dubai was built on almost slave labour.

Shame it takes this to get the media to actually notice and talk about it.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

Gee, who could have foreseen that? Oh, that's right. Everyone but FIFA did foresee that. It's either that or FIFA is run by total whores that turned a blind eye as long as Qatar made sure the price was right.

Is there any sensible reaction to that but to boycot it?

I hope people don't forget this when 2022 comes around, would be very depressing if there wasn't a boycott
“The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.”  - George Carlin

Yeah it's sickening. FIFA is one of the most corrupt organisations on the planet. They'll just expect people to ignore/forget all this shit by the time it comes around. I hope these air conditioned stadiums are worth it.

I saw this type of thing in Saudi Arabia. They treated foreign workers as bad as they could get away with - which often was dependent on which country the worker was from. I knew a lot of guys from British Aerospace over there. One of them decked one of the Mutawah (religious police) - knocked him out, cold. He was on a plane back to the UK the next day, deported. If it had been a Filipino or such, the offender wouldn't have been on a plane - he would have been in a jail cell and may have never come out.

You know how it's like, as long as there profit FIFA doesn't give a shit about the working class's dignity.

Why the hell would the World Cup be held, of all places, in Quatar?

So we can have après-ski parties and christmas-themed world cup parties at the same time.
