Ask one of Jehovah's Witnesses
RE: Ask one of Jehovah's Witnesses
Are you suggesting that homosexuals can get baptised as JW as long as they're not practicing? If so, what do you think about this imposing of a level of denial and restraint of their sexuality? Would heterosexuals be subject to a similar imposition and would your opinion be the same?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

This is the problem I have sometimes with discussions on this board. Its in our human nature to categorize everything. Thats why we often parse over definitions. Rhythms insisted that JW's are polytheists and perhaps they are by definition. So technically does the bible condemn homosexuality? No, much the same that it doesn't condemn heterosexuality. But it condemns the actions that usually go along with being a homosexual. Much the same that it condemns certain actions of heterosexual

Its a self restraint. If you choose to be a JW you choose to abide by the rules. Heterosexuals are confined to sexual acts with a marriage mate. If celibacy was a requirement, I personally wouldn't be a part of that religion

Erm sorry, but you said homosexuality, not me. I said the bible does not condemn homosexuality, and I am correct by your admission.

Homosexuality is also not the only thing that leads to man/man sexual intercourse either.

So I think you should adjust your statement to say that sex between men is a sin. Would you agree?

If you think I am nitpicking, you need to demonstrate why.

So heterosexuals aren't required to be celibate but homosexuals are? Is that what you're saying?

You are nitpicking and I can only demonstrate it by the fact that when most people refer to homosexuality they are also referring to the sexual acts that go along with it. Notice stimbos comments on why it doesn't seem fair that homosexuals must be celibate but not heterosexuals. You need to demonstrate that homosexuality is more based on a purely emotional level and not a sexual or physical level. If you're going to say that homosexuality can't be lumped in with "homosexual acts" If someone is attracted to the same sex but also believes in the Christian god, are they a homosexual if they shun the thoughts and resist the urges? I would say that they still are but they have a resolve to do what they believe is morally right.

No because the bible doesn't condemn sexual acts between 2 married people. If someone wanted to be a JW, engaging in homosexual acts would never be condoned

RE: Ask one of Jehovah's Witnesses
All you are demonstrating is that "most people" do not understand what homosexuality is. That is not an argument, and it is a problem in itself. And if you do understand the difference yourself, why do you persist in using the wrong terminology? You're talking to us lot, who do understand the difference.

They're standards. Not discriminations. The same standards are held for heterosexuals. Its out in the wide open that JW's do not condone homosexuality but its also constantly reminded that homosexuals deserve dignity like everyone. One recent article even said that a true christian would never be homophobic
