RE: More things against creationism
I'm wondering if some of these different species of humans actually bred with eachother rather than dying out. It happened in Europe where, increasingly, it appears Neanderthals were absorbed by modern humans rather than wiped out by them, so it's not unfeasible it happened further back in Africa too.

They may have been genetically different enough to be considered different species, but not so genetically different that they couldn't breed with eachother. It's very possible. What I'm saying is, maybe both Lucy and this new species are ancestors of modern humans? We could be a hybrid of all these different species.

Well..if they were different species they couldn't breed with each other.

Well Neanderthals are considered a different species, yet modern Europeans have trace amounts of Neanderthal ancestry, so if they're genetically similar enough, they can.

OK disclaimer I am new to being an atheist and still learning a shit ton from you all.  How in the fuck can theists get their arms around the age of these fossils.  To be honest this question never crossed my mind, because one of my indoctrinators told me that the fossil record proved the case for creationism.  I took it at face value and never asked questions.

If any christians read this post please have a discussion about how you can explain this one away.

The devil put them there to trick us. They accuse people of circular logic by claiming we know the age of the fossil by the age of the layer of earth, and determine the age of the layer of earth by the fossils.

Not to mention that not all theists are young earth creationists, and those types aren't too worried about old fossils.

so you are saying they either ignore scientific proof, or, they make their bible flexible and make it agree with science?

It's not known as The Big Book Of Pick 'n' Mix for nothing.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
