Pyrrho: interesting, thanks!
So let me get this straight... all that Christians have to show us for evidence is the bible. And Albert here is saying it's just a ridiculous story? Wow. OK, well I'm impressed you found a "Christian mythicist" (or the closest you'll get to one I guess) and I've yet more appreciation for the marvels of cognitive dissidence and just plain making shit up. It does act as a counter example to my blanket statement, so I was wrong

You're sure the planet wasn't named Skcollob? Would have made more sense reading it in reverse. Especially since Moroni alludes to a little Moron.

Yeah, I don't know why Min keeps holding to his position. The evidence shows that Jesus existed. He wasn't some mythical god like Zeus. The New Testament writers had their own opinions of him, and for sure that's fallible. But doesn't mean that he didn't exist in the first place.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

Albert Schweitzer was not a mythicist... lol... he believed Jesus was an apocalyptic preacher, the dominant view held by secular scholarship.
Wait, Pyrrho and the others who liked the quote thought that the man who launched the "First Quest" for the historical Jesus was a mythicist? (And that the HJ is irrelevant? Lol?). The man who said that, in Bart Ehrman's paraphrase, "the problem with the historical Jesus is that he was far too historical."
Fuckin' Christ people . . . The desperation is getting depressing.

Desperation? What's the problem, we're just having some polite conversation.

Yeah, it sure is irrelevant. I just enjoy checking it out.
I don't know why people would get all bent out of shape about it. It's just a very old dead guy.

Correct. But he did not think the historical Jesus mattered. At least, that is what he wrote.

Oh, jesus doesn't matter in any case.
But there remains no evidence of his existence beyond the wishful thinking of early propagandists.

Correct. But he did not think the historical Jesus mattered. At least, that is what he wrote. He didn't think the historical Jesus was relevant to modern Christian theology. And I would agree. Which is why, Rob, the attempts of mythicists to paint any historical quest as propagandistic, wishful, and religious in nature is desperate, dishonest, and irrational, to say nothing of politeness.
