No.

Well homosexuality being an abomination is OT so are you saying it is alright with your church?

Let me try to explain this a little better.

The thing is, you're trying to say I'm contradicting my faith in thinking that life is sacred. But you're doing so by providing me with things that are not Church Doctrine. Regardless of what stories are in the OT, the Church does have an infallible teaching that life is sacred, and you can look that up for yourself in the Catechism if you'd like. So I am not going against my faith by saying that it is lol. Smile

Now, just to be clear, this does not mean that we believe the OT is completely irrelevant and needs to be ignored. It just means it has its limitations and cannot be taken as any sort of infallible document. There are many stories in the Old Testament that line up with Church teaching and that serve as a good example and life lesson.

As for a homosexual orientation, the Church teaches that though we do not know for sure what causes a person to be attracted to people of the same sex (whether genetic or environmental), it is not something that is freely chosen and thus cannot be said to be a sin in and of itself. The Church does teach though that any sexual activity outside of consenting husband and wife is contrary to Christian moral laws. Regardless of whether you are the same sex or opposite sex.

I hope this helps clear it up for you.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

So, now that same sex marriage is legal and viable for homosexuals in the US, is the church going to back married homosexuals?

I am for it in the most extreme cases. I'm all for rehabilitation, but there are some people who can't be. The sickest of sickos should not be allowed anywhere near people, which means if we don't kill them they need to be in solitary indefinitely. Which isn't really an option because complete solitary destroys the mind. Any amount of freedom would be a possible threat, and the amount of isolation that would be required for safety would be such that we might as well kill them.

When I hear a story like some woman who was put in chanrge of someone's child for two weeks, and wound up torturing her to death over a week for flirting with boys, the only response I can have is kill it with fire. It's likely mainly just the anger stage of grief kicking in, when I hear or read about something like that, but I think it's at least somewhat justified.

I'm not even talking about killing a killer. I'm talking about someone who does something where if you made a horror movie out of it you'd probably have to tone it down so the general audience would find it believable.

In the eyes of the Church, a marriage, as we understand it, is only possible between a man and a woman. Whatever the state chooses to do does not effect our beliefs on marriage.

... and you're ok with a good percentage of the population being slighted that way? That's something you follow by choice?

These antiquated beliefs that you and others hold make me very very sad.

How do you feel about the story/video Atheist BG posted?

I'm sorry you feel that way, but if someone asks me about my beliefs I will be honest with them even when I know they won't like it.

I never have and never will deny that homosexual inclinations can happen with animals. But an animal doing something is not what we use as a basis for determining an action's morality.

It is a good indicator of what is natural behaviour, though.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Very true.

But we believe we are called to try to act beyond our natural inclinations at times.

Nonetheless, if you don't agree, then don't follow it. No one is forcing anyone else to follow the Church's teachings on sexual morality. :-)

What do animals have to do with what I asked?

Thank you for your honesty; it still makes me sad, and it should make you sad too.
