Religious people fasting - great idea. Even if only a few of those morons starve themselves to death - that's still a net gain for humanity, both in terms of removing pathology from the gene-pool and saving food.

I don't know but Ramadan is really hard for me as an Atheist living among Muslims, I could fake my fast but then I feel bad because all my family members are fasting and i cant eat and drink knowing that they are hungry and thirsty, its just hard

There is actually considerable laboratory experimental evidence to suggest mammals made to live in sustained fashion at the very edge of calorie deficiency tend to live longer than those either provided continuously with ample calories, or given a feast-famine calorie intake profiles.
So it is not inconceivable that regular fasting might put the observant closer to being on the edge of calorie deficiency, and thus give some longevity benefits.
Having periodic fasting, like Muslims do on Ramadan, on the other hand, would seem more like some form of feast-famine intake profile.

That aside, my post was mainly speaking in terms of Ramadan. How people try to rationalize dehydrating themselves. I could not understand why people, on the longest day of the year, would want to deprive themselves of hydration. If you don't drink enough water your skin will become unhealthy and spotty and then that got me thinking. There is this trope that Muhammadan women tend to become more modest during Ramadan, at least according to Abdur Raheem Green. And might wear the Hijab during Ramadan only and I thought this might be because the dehydration is causing them to become spottier than a dalmatian and they are ashamed of that but don't want to admit it.
I'm not up on Muhammadan fasting or any other religion that practices fasting, I did state that those who fast and risk their health are practicing as a cult. God is a God of healing not torture.

Showing your parents respect is OK. Just because you fast with them does not mean you have sacrificed what you believe. Every time I hear the lords prayer I don't think I've slipped back into the delusion.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
