RE: What would you consider to be evidence for God?
July 1, 2015 at 6:13 am
Actually there IS evidence that "god" exists. But "god" is not an all powerful creature that created itself and sacrificed itself for itself. The bible is full of evidence that "god" exists, it's just that there is written the distorted vision of primitive people what "god" really is. The ancient civilizations knew what god really was: "Odin's home among the stars" and other examples of that. In times when people died from a simple wound on the skin an advanced medicine must have looked like god-like powers and resurrection. Today's guns would surely look like "thunder throwing hammers" to primitive people. An advanced technology for storing DNA sequences surely looked like an ark to the primitive people.

I have a very simple answer!
God showing up.
Is that too much to ask? It's kind of the same evidence I'd consider reasonable for any person I was expected to talk to in person.
"Talk to Jim! He's right there! Go on!"
"Uhm..." *Backs away slowly from the only other person in the room*

You know how when you think you shit yourself but you checked and you didn't.
But the one time you really did shit yourself you didn't need to check.
Well, if god gave me a head job I reckon I would know if it was her and that would be enough proof for me.

The deity must be observed by people of all and no faiths, must leave tangible evidence, and demonstrate power in an objective way.

The Sun does that.

The Sun does that.
And it's quite clear that the sun doesn't show the characteristics of being a higher power.

Worshipping the sun would be the most sensible form of worship (or rather, the least stupid). We're totally reliant on that bad boy. Should we lose favour with it and it decides to find a new solar system, were fucked!
Stop screwing around with these fake gods and kiss the sun's ass! Does it have an ass?

Evidence for God... hmm... I guess there are a number of inferences that one could make that would be consistent with something like a deity; the question of whether or not such an inference is correct may be unanswerable, but I think it may at least be justified if... we can somehow discover that consciousness or mind is an integral mechanism for a universe to exist --- within very narrow mathematical parameters --- in such a way as it appears to us... and if it is really a vast complex of interwoven structures that unfold from what is an essentially simple, immaterial beginning, due to a set of values that are best explained by ingenious forethought... then I suppose these would be supportive of something that resembles traditional conceptions of the First Cause / Supreme Being.
That still wouldn't cause me to worship it. But it understandably would inspire further wonder and awe over its baffling nature, as the Universe already currently does.

I've often encountered my fellow atheists say that there's no evidence for God's existence. This seems true, but I think that the answer may be fairly loaded.
Does it come across to anyone that people sometimes assume we can get evidence to begin with? or is it just me?
I know a fair portion of atheists would disagree, and that everyone knows that you're really saying
"no, and there really is no way to get evidence for such nonsense".
If we can't get evidence, because evidence (at least by scientific standards) is by it's very nature falsifiable,
(something which the god claim can't provide [currently]) then what would anyone constitute as evidence? Are those who use the "we don't have evidence yet" claim literally, deceived?
Seeing it with our own eyes? How would we know it's not a hallucination?
If by some chance we are provided falsifiability, how would we know we aren't deceived by an alien hallucination inducing device?
(Pardon the bong logic format)
If evidence can't point us toward or away from answers to this kind of question, are they even reasonable to ask?
How could anyone who is honestly seeking an answer be expected to come up with one in the face of such obstacles?
Given what is said, does anyone think that there is evidence that would convince them that God exists?
listen i believe god exists and know he does. everything works for you but you need to believe and most of all do your research. there are many testimonies of people and myself that god has helped.
You don't know a fucking thing. All you have is faith and belief. Testimonies are not evidence.
