What of surrogate mothers or women putting their babies up for adoption? In both cases, the child isn't bonding with the person who will be his or her mother...
What if the unborn child benefits from biorhythms while in utero, such as heartbeat?

It looks like a useful medical advance although this is not artificial babies.

Who cares what the religious right thinks? It isn't even a religious issue.

Artificial Children?
It would be cool to have one of these in the living room for 9 months. The whole family could watch it grow. It would be like a super cool fish tank.

For some reason everything is a religious issue. We don't want to piss king Jesus off now do we?

You know I had a really flippant response to this, but upon further reflection, I realized that his non-existence kind of makes the whole question a non-starter.

RE: Artificial Children?
I don't see a moral question here.  The thread cited shows a bunch of idiots arguing that if it's artificial it's not god's way and therefore wrong.  I wonder if they feel that way about oxygen tents, vaccines, and antibiotics, not to mention surgery of any kind.

But, I wouldn't want to have one of the first few test babies unless I was infertile.  It doesn't seem to take much in the way of drug use or odd eating patterns to mess up a fetus.  And it's not just nutrients but also hormones that arrive through the placenta.  I suspect there will be early problems.   Besides, I actually enjoyed being pregnant.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

The only sane person there (ASUK) basically asked that. The Christards pointed out the difference between fighting off illness (that was caused by sin) and undermining god's natural processes.

From that line of reasoning, would that not make a majority of the threads on this forum "non-starters"?
