From that line of reasoning, would that not make a majority of the threads on this forum "non-starters"?

My thoughts on the big-C xtians is that they don't have thoughts, not on announcements like this. They have kneejerk reactions to stimulus. Even amoebae do that, though with fewer knees.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Quote:Others have stated it removes the bond between a mother and her child.

I didn't carry my son to term; his mother did.  But I shared wake-up/feeding/diaper duties with her.  I don't know about maternal bonding, but I know that I bonded with my son at oh-dark-thirty while I was half-asleep with MTV on in the background and the little knucklehead was just happy to be  alive.  We had some good nights together, the he can't remember but I do with pleasure.

I remember one Sunday morning waking up to hear him on the baby monitor. He was repeating two syllables, over and over: "Dah-dee.  Dah-dee. Dah-dee." Clearly practicing.  And so I got up and went to his room, asking, "Did someone call for Dah-dee?" We both started laughing.

I'm not sure that hormones bind as tightly as emotions.

The fetus will go to term without the Mother's hormones, antibodies and heartbeat. I do not know if that may create subtle personality or health issues and there does not seem to be much study on it. And do we really know what to feed a developing fetus? Nine months is a long time.

May benefit the child is the only point I'm making. Not going to debate right or wrong, back to personal choice.
