I gave the Holy Spirit a rimjob once. It was insubstantial.

Technically this also allows Christians to insult non-Christian religions now. I'd have thought this would be something you would approve of.

Why, because you believe I'm an image of the image you have of Christians, the Bible nor God instruct me run down another religion, I am called to show the differences and witness to those who do not believe.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Funny thing about you Christians. You can openly denounce Jupiter, Thor, Baal, Isis, and Quetzalcoatl without retribution, but as soon as a law is passed that leaves your imaginary pet open to the same criticism without special treatment and associated punishment you scream bigotry.

What god is worth worship if he must rely upon the rule of man-made government to shelter him from criticism? Has he no tongue? Is god incapable of defending himself before the Icelandic legislature?

Get this straight. There is no law against someone proclaiming faith in your god, they just removed law that punished people for saying they don't.

You are wrong.  They have just stopped enforcing bigotry.  One man's heresy is another man's religion.  Now there is freedom for people to express their religious views, whereas before, one could not do so if one were not in line with one of the recognized religions.

You, being a Christian, ought to appreciate this, as Christianity was at one time not mainstream, and would, under Icelandic-type blasphemy laws, have been illegal to be publicly expressed.

The OP says to abolish blasphemy laws, this to me means anyone can speak against anything they consider religious, and It's fine with me, freedom of speech you know.

I am better than your god. I would never ask men to go into battle unarmed.

Blasphemy is generally much broader than hate speech.  Blasphemy can be saying that Jesus was just a man.  But that is not hate speech.

Iceland's parliament has abolished its blasphemy laws, despite opposition from some of the country's churches.
The bill said it was "essential in a free society that the public can express themselves without fear of punishment".

Wow. Only with gawd-goggles can you see bigotry in freedom of speech.

I'm better than God too, just in case anyone was wondering.

Nice work Iceland! I only realised recently that there were such things as blasphemy laws, but I'm glad to see them coming down. As has been said, what kind of pathetic God needs legislation to help him cover his ears so he doesn't cry?

You're right, but hate speech is actually broader than blasphemy in many cases - While blasphemy is merely defamation of religions or religious symbols (from my experience those laws frequently apply to the majority's religion only and the rest is ignored) hate speech can encompass pretty much anything from religion, religious symbols, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability/body ability, age, etc - It is a broad concept, anything fits into it. Saying "Religions are not peaceful" could be classified as hate speech in some countries and it wouldn't surprise me, or like it happened in france saying that black people are "monkeys".

I don't understand this statement in context with your previous one that the end of blasphemy laws will mean legalized bigotry. You first said that was bad and now you are saying it is good?

Aren't you an American? Do you feel that you encounter bigotry because there are no blasphemy laws in the US? Would you like to see such laws enacted in the US?
