I really don't know how far fetched it is honestly. For one thing though, having something alive on the firsf deep space rock we care to look at is a different thing again than just having had panspermia 4 billion years ago... I just grow suspicious when someone who is famous for advertising it more than others cries "aliens!" every time at the first sight of an anomaly. Don't get me wrong, I so want there to be space bugs on there! 
Anyone remember the film about the space vampires on Halley's Comet?
