You were not merely disagreeing with him, nor were you doing it as one member to another. So far, I have never witnessed this kind of outrageous behaviour towards members of the forum outside of mods doing it 'off-duty'. You are the only ones that seem to think it ok to order people around and bully them into leaving the forum, even when no rule is being actually broken. I have received the same treatment in the past and can readily attest to this. You can't have it both ways. Either you're talking in the capacity of a ranking officer of the forum or you do it as 'one member to another', but you can't do both at the same time and expect me to accept your falling back on the latter as an excuse whenever I accuse you of being unfair or oppressive.

There's nothing oppressive about the staff calling people out on their bullshit publicly.  There's nothing oppressive about staff disagreeing with members publicly.  There's nothing oppressive about staff saying, "If you don't like the way things are run, there's the door."

You might want to check that, by his own admission, Esquilax wasn't doing any of that in his capacity as a moderator. I still don't think it would be right to do such things, not even as a moderator, and least of all publicly and in such a hateful manner, but I am pointing out to you that your premise is wrong, at least concerning what happened here.

I get that he's brought it on himself, but seeing all these negative comments constantly being made towards a person is becoming painful to watch. We don't know what is going on in his home life or what hardships he might be dealing with.

It may be a good idea to think about toning it down some and just letting it go, or using more neutral language.

Let me educate you: it's common knowledge, something that we point out on request whenever anyone is unclear, that the mods are, in general, speaking as members when they post here. When we are posting as moderators, we adjust our text colour to make it clear to everyone that we're speaking in an official capacity:When my text is green, you can be assured that I am speaking to you as a moderator. When my text is any other colour, I'm speaking as a member. Chad, having been here many more years than you have, understands this.

Hey, it's not mine or anyone elses' fault that you're so colossally ignorant of basic tenets of this board, while arrogantly assuming that you know everything about us. It's not my problem that you refuse to do a single second of fucking research into how the staff conduct themselves here before you opened your mouth, and it sure as hell is not my job to cater to your petulant whims. Everyone here who actually knows a single solitary goddamn thing about the mod team knows that, quite the opposite of trying to have it both ways, I was in fact speaking as a member, by dint of the fact that I didn't change my fucking text colour. The rules are clear: modding here is binary, you are either speaking as a mod or you are not, and the signal for that change is green text. There's no third state of member that you seem to think I'm inhabiting on the sly in some vicious campaign to oppress you, presumably by daring to disagree with you on any point.
