I fucking hate that!
I have to say, if we were designed this way, it was sadistic. I can lose hours and hours when having fun without realizing it, but when I'm in pain or miserable, time seems to slow down to a near standstill.
If anything, it should be the other way round. What bastard is responsible...
I wonder if evolution can explain it? It better.

Of course, you want to be painfully aware of all that pain and suffering so you try your best to avoid it!
(This is pure speculation, of course... I wasn't there, nor did I accompany this perception as it evolved)

- If you spend 4 hours with a beautiful girl, it will seem as though only 5 minutes passed by.
- If you spend 5 minutes with your hand over a burning fire, it will seem as though 4 hours have passed.
In essence, time flies, when you're having fun - that is relativity.

I thought it was interesting to see all the stuff about the history of life on Earth and the universe. What did you think?

Oh..... that time... see? I didn't follow the link, or didn't read its contents and then I screwed up!
I'm always blown away at the timescales involved with anything cosmically speaking, or geologically speaking...
I liked the approach that they used on the new Cosmos, where they compressed the whole time since the Big bang until now, into one calendar year:
(this image is huge, so feel free to right click and open it on a different tab so you can expand it)
The Earth shows up in September... life somewhere in late October to early November... sex starts at the very ending of November... Dinosaurs die out at the 30th of December. We, humans, are a blip on this cosmic calendar... and yet, some think we're so important...

The part about the Anatomically and Behaviorally modern humans is, typically, the thing that theists don't get. We evolved for a long, long, long time, after splitting from other apes.... and we had been evolving for a damned long time before that. Our "recorded history" is a tiny bit of all the lives of all the humans that have existed. And, lo and behold, god chose to interact with us after we'd done all that by ourselves... yeah, right.
