As has been said, they can't hold you prisoner. So get out of there ASAP. Find a bedsit somewhere or crash at a friend's. Unless they're all that way, that is.

Just because you signed a piece of paper doesn't mean that what you signed is a legal document.  That said, never sign something you don't read or are not confident in.

If you can truly understand one of them your a much better man than myself. Have tried and all they are good for is giving one a headache. Ever read facebook's agreement?

@Secular Atheist Hope things have gotten better. My only suggestion is to look at the roommate adds but you always have baggage when dealing with people.

Sometimes?  It depends on the product/service.  It also depends on whether or not it's coming from a faceless entity or an individual I have access to who may be trying to screw me over with documentation.

You could look into weekly rates at a motel, that might be more affordable.
