Sounds like a tough situation. The people around you seem to have some definite manipulation issues. The sooner you get out of that situation the better.

From what I've heard the cost of housing in Cali is astronomical (at least compared to Nebraska). Even though you're only paying $500/month that's to high a price for what you're having to put up with.

Have you talked to others at work about your need to find alternate housing? Might be a place to start. Your employer might even be able to give some direction.

What about CA gov assistance? I've attached some sites that I found with a simple google search. Based on your income you may qualify.

How old are you? If your young enough and don't already have a degree you could move for college. Or you could play robert ingersoll on speakers till they make you move out LOL.
