There's just a group of movies that I can always watch and I can't pick the top three.

Shawshank, The Departed, There Will Be Blood, Gangs of New York, No Country for Old Men, The Dark Knight, Goodfellas, Tombstone, American Hustle (its getting there), Silver Linings Playbook, The Wolf of Wallstreet, Labyrinth Big Grin, True Grit, The Range and yes the Marvel universe.

Awww yeah!

Haha Yea! Fun fact: Cat from Red Dwarf performed that song and I think he wrote it as well.

Actually, don't quote me on any of this. It's been a while since I learned that, and it could be totally false.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Since we're on the topic of the Godfather, here's another tid-bit.  For those of you who have seen the movie but haven't read the book, there is an odd fixation by the author, Mario Puzo(who also wrote the movie), on the size of Sonny's penis.  In fact, there's even a little sub-plot in the book about how the girl that Sonny is banging at the beginning of the movie basically gets her vagina ruined by him and sex is never pleasurable for her afterwards until she meets a nice doctor that can sew her up tight.

I guess the whole point of it was to show just how much of super macho alpha male Sonny was.  It was kind of weird, though...

Labyrinth is one of my all time favorites. In fact, it probably should have been my number 3, but I didn't think of it at the time.

1. "Brain Candy" (Kids In The Hall movie)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116768/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

2. "A Mighty Wind" (but honestly - I could fill this list with just Christopher Guest movies; I named this one, because of the subject matter)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310281/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

3. "Kung Fu Hustle" (Stephen Chow made THE perfect movie once and not enough people know that)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373074/

It pains me, that there's not enough room in the top 3 for anything directed by Terry Gilliam ("Jabberwocky", "Brazil", "12 Monkeys"), or written by Charlie Kauffman ("Being John Malkovich", "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind")... Any and every Python movie, a bunch of Muppet ones... and probably a dozen others.

Yeah, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was a fun SciFi/Psychological movie.  Funny but the distortions/misrepresentations in that movie -and there are plenty- didn't rub me the wrong the way they did in "A Beautiful Mind". (I don't know most of the others - yet.)

Dr. Strangelove

People think of it as a comedy (it is hysterically funny), but it is almost a documentary.  Of course, people should have realized it was close to the truth, given the government warning at the beginning that was forced onto it, that says that it could never happen.  The government never requires such a message on films that tell a story that cannot happen.

For how close to the truth it really was, see:

Life of Brian

Again, an hysterically funny comedy that is nevertheless very serious.  It illustrates the way people actually think.  Viewed in that light, it is a frightening film.

Brazil

Watching Brazil for the first time was a unique experience for me in cinema.  Never before, or since, have I gone from not understanding what is going on, to having instant clarity.  It was quite an invigorating experience.

Of course, if I made up such a list on another day, I would likely come up with a different film or two, as obviously a list of only three films leaves off many great ones.

Going to have to break down my list to only 3.

But, at least one is LadyHawke

That's my wife's favourite film!

Only qualifier for a movie to make the list is that it should be one you can watch many times and not get sick of. Like if you flip through channels and you see it's on you are definitely stopping to watch it.

Here's mine:

1. Shawshank redemption
2. The lord of the rings trilogy (I consider them ONE movie and not to be confused with the hobbit movies)
3. The Dark Knight (only because of Heath Ledger)

Let's hear yours

You. I like you just fine.

1) The Shawshank Redemption

2) Inglourious Basterds

3) The Dark Knight/Captain America: The Winter Soldier (totally split between the two of them)
