RE: STUDY: Want ‘sustained happiness’? Get religion.

Well as I've already said it's a proper peer reviewed paper, and the data they drew on is from SHARE, therefore they are not in control of what questions to ask, and as a survey there can't be a "control group". You can only have a control group with a controlled study, and for that you need to direct people what activities they are to do and not to do.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

Incorrect. Multiple studies have shown it and I provided a list of them from the reference list in the Croezen et al. 2015 article. Your beliefs are just as blind as any religious zealot when you refuse to accept published evidence, and then trash-talk scientific papers without even having read any of them.
And your assumption that I haven't read the paper is just as bad as any theists claims that atheists are merely angry at gawd.
Yes, I was incorrect. I should have stated that the papers fail to prove that religion makes people happier the all other secular activities. I misspoke.

I'd be interested in how "sustained happiness" is being defined. Equanimity can be sustained, but I'm not sure about euphoria.
Aractus, from your reading of the paper do you recall if a definition was given?

As I mentioned that particular paper is concerned with depressive disorders not overall happiness or for that matter any other specific mental disorders. You have to realise that these papers have huge value when it comes to healthcare because it provides a foundation for what needs to be delivered for individual patient care. Providing patients suffering from depressive disorders with the regular opportunity to practise their religious beliefs seems to be a very important tool to help their health. And it's not just depressive disorders, yes this specific paper deals with depressive disorders, but it can also help stave off dementia and other non-communicable illnesses. Happiness will follow because healthier people are happier people.
I should note however that I've seen no evidence that converting to religion will provide the effect, and I would assume that the effect would be strongest for people who have deeper religious beliefs and practises, and I wouldn't think simply converting to religion would have any health effect, at least not immediately.

You are aware that religion is only one kind of social participation? Also, did you read or acknowledge this?

I mean the bolded part. May...
In evolutionist propaganda, may means an undisputed fact.

Care to give any examples where the word may is used as scientific fact?
Still waiting by the way.

Established scientific facts don't require propaganda.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

That's why evolution has so much propaganda devoted to it, and words like may, could be, if, might be and ect.

It's in all the propaganda and apparently the propaganda and the deceptive wording is working on some.
