christian looking to understand athiests

Which also begs the question as to how a 14 yearl-old can be a born again. At that point, you've barely reached the age of reason.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

People can be atheists as a result of general ignorance; however you will find that many fight against rational faith. They do so for many reasons: previous experiences with unloving Christians, exposure half-truths and lies about the Gospel, or just a general desire to justify sinful sensuality and the conveniences of selfishness.

Of course, you've found virtually no support for those contentions here, but that won't stop you from saying it anyway.

You know how to make me laugh.

Don't encourage him! He's insufferable when he gets on one of his "atheier than thou" kicks. No one believes less. No one is more skeptical. No one can blaspheme better. Fuck. With Stimbo, it's one atheist dick measuring contest after another.

Both the evidence and arguments have been provided throughout history.  You atheists just come up with excuses for not accepting them. The Holy Spirit is reaching out to you but you will not listen.
If by 'excuses' you mean 'well thought-out valid reasons as to why the supposed evidence isn't and why the arguments fail', I suppose you may have a point about why we don't accept them.

I think you answered your own question. What better time to be 'born again' than when one has barely reached the age of reason or had time to be exposed to anything other than Dad's religion?

A pastor's daughter nonetheless.

She's either genuinely questioning and she's trying to convince herself by becoming born again, in which case why scare her off? Or it's a fake story.

Another possibility is that she is conducting some kind of half-assed research to understand atheists in order to improve her proselytizing efforts.  Of course, that would depend on her belonging to certain denominations rather than others. There probably aren't a lot of Episcopalian kids breaking their asses witnessing to others about Jesus. But a Baptist or Pentecostal kid (and a pastor's daughter on top of it)? I've known many who drank the Kool-Aid at a young age and who were just as obnoxious in their "outreach" as their elders.

Aww now she's gone. I wanted to tell her the good news about the big bang!
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

God will never change anyones free will but he can change circumstances and things through prayer.
for instance our family needed a car because our old one broke down and we prayed for weeks and a friend of my parents was told by her eye doctor (about the same time we were praying) that her eyesight was too bad to drive,  she had known that it was bad for a while but she diddnt have any need to drive other then groceries and church which she had plans worked out for.  we got the car for a very low price and it is very nice and hasnt had any problems

that is one expample where God changed circumstances with prayer

Someone needed a car and (amazingly!) someone else was getting rid of one. That's some solid evidence, msid! You're right: it must have been Yahweh/Jesus/Superman.  Rolleyes

Mind is so blown.

Checkmate robvalue!

Did you see the car before you paid for it?

So your god answered your prayers by degrading someone else's eyesight to the point where they were no longer allowed to drive, thereby compelling her to sell off her car at discounted price?

Did nobody think to pray for this woman's eyesight to improve?

That's okay.  The person whose eye sight was degraded by God so that she would be prompted to make that car available as planned still had free will.  Blind perhaps but still free to see this turn of events as a blessing or a curse.  I wonder which way she went?
