idk why the right wing never seems to think the knife will cut both ways,
but they never did see it, did they?
It shouldn't even have had to come to this;
I've been trying to tell them for years:
The very principle that protects your right to practice your religion without persecution
is the same exact principle that applies to LGBT rights.
but they have NO INTEGRITY,
so then, of course, they shamelessly invent this imaginary threat, the "gay agenda"
and try to claim that their religious rights are actually under attack.
They are the very group that SHOULD be upholding integrity and honesty,
when they are actually slimy, lying, self-serving cockroaches of the first water.
Of course I know that no-one here needs this spelled-out to them;
we know it better than anyone.
I just hope some of them read it:
Any Christian who promotes this utter garbage of a "gay agenda"
and tries to claim that it is Religious rights that are "under attack"
simply because the LGBT wants the same rights as any other taxpaying citizens:
You are everything a Christian should not be. You are a liar. You serve the Father of Lies.
I can't say it about Judaism or Islam
...although I support the fundamental human rights issue of LGBT there, just as much as anywhere else...
but the laws in different countries,
and the central tenets of other religions,
I am not well-enough acquainted-with, to argue any potential hypocrisy;
but for Christians, this opposing LGBT rights might seem logical on the very superficial face of it,
as a knee-jerk reaction....sure.
but just stopping and thinking about it for a couple of minutes
should make you realize the exact opposite:
there is really NO justification for Christians,
...much less AMERICAN Christians...
to object to LGBT rights.
1. I don't believe there is any spot in the New Testament where Jesus, Himself, unequivocally condemns homosexuality, specifically.
2. As Christians, your job is to Love, above all else....and leave the JUDGMENTS to God.
You know, while Jesus never mentions homosexuality, he was very clear on the issue of passing Judgment.
God might find homosexuality an abominable practice;
but at least it is a temptation of the flesh; an understandable human weakness!
However, there is really no need or excuse for anyone to coolly pass judgment upon someone else,
and it is really the worse of the two sins
...you are, after all, not merely succumbing to temptation,
but calculatedly putting yourself IN GOD'S PLACE.
And it's bad enough for the average person to do so,
but Christians are supposed to KNOW BETTER...yet, they're the worst offenders.
3. Jesus, Himself, mentioned church and state are separate "Render unto Caesar..."
4. Jesus, Himself, let people CHOOSE whether or not to live a godly life...he didn't coerce them;
and Jesus NEVER charged his followers with the responsibility of endeavoring to pass His teachings into Civil Law
....you guys took THAT upon yourselves.
5. You don't accomplish anything in the way of "serving God" by limiting the rights of non-Christians
...because God can see into their hearts, anyway,
and it's ONLY what is in their hearts, that matters to God, according to the Bible.
6. ...and you Christians KNOW THAT. Which, in turn, can only mean
that you're only doing all this to accommodate your OWN comfort-level,
...and there is something particularly unsavoury about a Christian who is
- doing something God never asked them to do
- then trying to claim they are only doing it to serve God
- when they are actually doing it to serve themselves.
If I was your God, I'd be pretty pissed at you for that. It's disgusting.
7. And besides....every time you try to legislate Christian law, it sends a clear message:
...you don't really have the faith you profess to have.
Because obviously you think God needs YOUR HELP in enforcing His Word,
and you doubt His ability to touch people's hearts.
8. You, as Christians, are failing to be good ambassadors of Christ.
Not only are you are driving people further away from Christ;
but you are making them wonder what kind of God you serve,
when His followers so brazenly play so unfairly.
