Christians - What would you do if it were discovered Jesus never existed?

Quote:I don't see how you find that logical.

"Logical" is that none of it happened at all.  Period.  End of story.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was sliced in half, yet his ghost didn't even have a papercut. How is that logical?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I mean really he died and came back to life people back then never heard of weak pulse or shallow breath so the guy more than likely if he had
existed was pretty much alive so for those 3 days he was "dead" he was pretty fucked up and resting up then goes to his people talks to them
and leaves walking into desert to go fuck off.

Do you really think the wounds he would have endured from the lashings and crucifixion would "recover" in three days time?  And how could he recover being sealed in a tomb alone for three days?  I don't see how you find that logical.  I know if I had a spear thrust in to my side and somehow lived and was locked in a cell alone for three days, not only would the hole still be there, but probably festered and infected and sure as hell wouldn't be able to walk around like all was well.

Yet in some versions of the story, he walks around and people who intimately knew him don't recognize him, which is remarkable in itself and doubly remarkable if he is still completely fucked up from scourging, crucifixion, a spear thrust, and three days in a tomb. The guys on the road to Emmaus are really that clueless?

The bible is the claim and therefore proof of sweet FA.
DATA sweetheart DATA look up that word because that is the word being discussed, and stop trying to move goal posts. Oh, and pay attention (thought you could read) the bible is not the sole claim. The bible is a point of reference. I listed several other historical points of reference.

Maybe look up tertiary source while your at it. The Gospels are recorded eye witness accounts. which makes them Primary arguably secondary source material.

The moment you apply any sort of qualitative assessment to the 'data' it evaporates in the most comprehensive manner I've ever come across.
Once the process is complete what you're left with is a succession of liars and con-men leaving a blood soaked trail across two and a half millennia...
Which could be the case if we did not have the original codices. Granted they are few hundred years removed from the events they describe but that is a far shout from your 2 1/2 millennia.

It's even better than that:

Quote:cretin (n.)
1779, from French crétin (18c.), from Alpine dialect crestin, "a dwarfed and deformed idiot" of a type formerly found in families in the Alpine lands, a condition caused by a congenital deficiency of thyroid hormones, from Vulgar Latin *christianus "a Christian," a generic term for "anyone," but often with a sense of "poor fellow."

Sooo.. for you it is plausible for someone to be beaten within a inch of their life, nailed to a cross, run through with a spear to the heart, sealed up in a tomb, not bleed out, with no medical attention, get up move a huge rock and sneak past roman gaurds with a trace?

If you pay close attention Obi's robes dropped right as Vader made his death blow. In essence Obi 'forced out' (transfigured himself into the force) a moment before he  would have been struck down.

And if you pay very close attention you'll see that Alec Guinness is replaced by a mannequin on wires, followed by a jump cut of empty sliced robes falling.

Even the Force rationalisation doesn’t hold with the line "If you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine".

So Force magic or editing magic? And how do we know it happened at all?

It depends if your looking from an editing perspective or a story line perspective. In a sense, "what I told you was true, from a certain point of view."
